Sarah L. Crowley

anthrozoology
& animal geography

ABOUT ME

I am a researcher, teacher and writer in the broad field of anthrozoology or the study of human-animal interaction.

Most of my work relates to how people decide which animals belong in which places, and how we navigate disagreements about this. This means I am also an animal geographer, interested in where animals live (and go), where people think they should live (and go), and what happens when these don’t match up.

My broad motivation is to help find ways for humans and other animals to ‘live well’ together, and to support sustainable, evidence-based approaches to both wild and domestic animal management.

Our research group is based at the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus, in the Centre for Geography and Environmental Science.
